"Come here, Kim!"
My friend cried.
She was at the opposite of the road.
"Okay! Okay! Wait!"
I shouted back as a car zoomed by.
I shouted back as a car zoomed by.
"NOW!"
She screamed.
I closed my eyes.
If I had opened them,
I could have stopped in time.
If I had heard what my friend said,
I could have avoid it.
But instead,
A car banged into me.
That was a few weeks ago.
I'm not sure how many.
But I couldn't remember what exactly happened.
Except that I had an accident.
Ever since then,
I could see
Spirits.
It's kinda like the book,
The Mediator.
But I can control my so called ability
To not see the spirits.
So yeah.
Anyways,
My school had a field trip
Only for 16 year olds.
We were all suppose to go to a park.
Not really sure where though.
Don't really care.
The trip to there went like a breeze.
In fact,
The whole trip was like a breeze.
I can't remember a single thing about it.
Maybe it's my head?
Maybe I have short-term-memory?
Maybe I just wasn't paying any attention.
On the way out,
We passed by a small mamak restaurant.
It was hot and I thought of buying a drink.
On my way there,
A teacher stopped me.
"Kim, don't go there."
"But. Why?"
"But. Why?"
"Because,"
The teacher raised his voice a little bit louder
So all the students could hear.
"This is where all the spirits have a rest stop."
The sun started to set
And the moon begun to rise.
Not one of us uttered a word
And the crickets begun singing very loudly.
"Come on, kids. Lets get back to the bus now."
I hung back.
If I would pay around my attention,
I would be able to see a spy hiding behind the bushes.
I let my guards down and gasped.
I could see a lot of spirits
Walking every where.
"Hey, Kim."
I look at the person who called my name.
It sounded very familiar.
It came from the nearest table to me.
And I saw my dad.
I knees gave way
And I fell
Hard
On the cold floor.
"Kim!" My dad cried as he rushed towards me.
His ghostly hand touched my arm
And I felt a cold touch.
Tears started to stream down my cheeks.
"Dad.."
"Yes, Kim. I'm dead."
"How!? Why!?" I burst out yelling.
The other spirits looked at me
Then continued doing their stuff.
My dad then picked me up from the ground and
Sat me down on a plastic chair.
Normally if a normal person see this,
All they could see was a girl sitting on a chair,
Crying.
But they cant see the ghost of the girl's father supporting her.
Finally, I stopped crying.
"How?" I whispered.
"Plane crash."
"On the way to Greece?"
"No. On the way home."
"Is it on news?"
"I doubt that."
"Mummy?"
My dad looked at his drink.
"You have to tell her, Kim."
"How!? She won't believe me! I don't believe me!"
"Calm down, Darling. Came down."
I sniffed and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand.
"Daddy..."
"Sh.. It's okay. It's okay."
He took me in his arms and I cried on his shoulder.
"How can it be okay? You're gone."
I whimpered.
"I may be gone in my physical form, but I'm not gone in your heart."
He stroked my hair.
"You're a smart girl, I know you are,"
He continued.
He continued.
"You'll think up of a way."
He pried me off his shoulder and looked at me in the eyes.
"I love you, Daddy."
I sniffed.
"Now, what do we have here?"
A woman's voice rang through our conversation.
I turned my head to have a better look at who is it
And saw a rather tall woman.
I looked at my dad and he smiled.
"Dad, who's this?" I asked.
The woman took a sit and I felt like punching her.
Who the hell is she to barge in like that?
When my dad and I are having a conversation?
I stared at her,
Trying to figure out who is she.
"Don't I look familiar?"
"No."
"Now, Kim. Manners."
"Who the hell are you!?"
"Look."
I stared at her and finally,
I could see.
She's my friend's mother!
"Yes, darling. I'm Sue Ann's mother."
I gapped at her.
I didn't know what to say.
She...
She is Sue Ann's mother.
And...
And she's dead!
"How?"
My voice came out a whisper.
"How?"
"Same plane. Same crash."
She replied.
I saw ghostly tears rolling down her cheeks.
I don't know what to say.
I have nothing to say.
