“Over my dead body!”

Chapter 9: Their Encounter

The bell rang, ringing through the thoughts of mine. I stifled my yawn due to the fact that I couldn’t sleep a wink the night before.

“Morgan? Earth to Morgan! Hello!?”

A hand waved in front of me, pulling me back in from my thoughts again. I blinked, once, twice and saw Roy and Clarisse looking at me with worried eyes.

“Oh, um, it’s nothing.” I stood up and took my books and headed for my locker.

“Jeez, Morgy, you look terrible.” Roy said when he saw my tired eyes.
“Dude, your eye bags are big enough to put in your books and my books.”

At the corner of my eye, I saw Clarisse shove Roy on the shoulder. I opened my locker and took out a pocket mirror. Roy was right, my eye bags are huge; my hair is in a mess; I hadn’t put any make up one, not even a lipstick. No wonder he said I look terrible and yeah, he was right!

“Roy, Morgan and I have something to talk about, so why don’t you run along?”
“B-but!”
“Roy! Please?”

Roy shuffled down the corridor, muttering something under his breath. I stifled another yawn as Clarisse pulled me towards the school yard. I blinked when we were exposed under the sunlight.

“Here,” she said and pulled me to a big tree behind the building.
“You don’t mind if we skip lunch, do you?”
I shook my head.
“Good, now spill, what in the world made you look like this?”

I hesitated. It’s not that I don’t trust her; it was just that this whole thing was part of my life, now. What will happen if I would have told her everything? From the notes to the woman that saved me from the thing called Enormph? Will my telling, too, put her in danger as it had put me?

I can’t leave you alone, it’s dangerous.

He once wrote to me. I discard it without much thought about me being in danger and yet now I believed him. But why did he leave the other night? Is it because he knew about the Enormph?

“I had a date with Leon,” I said it without thinking. I saw Clarisse’s eyes grew wide with excitement. “It was nothing, I swear!”
“If it’s nothing, then why would you have eye bags?”
“Cause I was up watching movies.”
“Morgan! You’re lying! You know that I can tell if you’re lying. You’re not one of the best liars on the world, you know?”
“Seriously, it’s the truth!”

Somewhere in the building, the school bell rang.

“No sense in going back to boring classes when you are here with me,”
“W-What?”
“Now, tell me how your date went. It feels like years since we’ve talk. Ever since Leon told everyone of us that you guys agreed to go to the Carnival together.”

I laughed and started filling Clarisse in, carefully avoiding him coming in the topic.

A bird starting chirping; the sun was hidden behind a cloud the breeze brought in; Clarisse’s laughter filled the silent that has surrounded me since last night.

Where have he seen those eyes before? It seemed so familiar yet he couldn’t put his finger on it.

He woke up when someone splashed cold water at his face. When he finally opened his eyes he saw three men surrounding him. Two of them looked like twins, it was impossible to tell them apart though. But only one man was wearing a mask to cover his lower part of the face. The twins though had orange hair and a pair of brown mean looking eyes. The other one though, that particular one has sandy blond hair and a pair of wasabi eyes.

Those eyes. He has seen it before. But where?

He tried to move, and yet again, he was tied up but on a chair, this time.

“No point in looking for your knife, we disarmed you.” His voice was muffled by the cloth.
“Did you honestly think you can keep the Sight from us? I’m rather surprised that you were really fast, maybe I shouldn’t be. After all, I was warned you were fast, but I didn’t know you were that fast. I’ve made my mistake then.”

How did he get drugged? He didn’t drink anything or ate anything in particular. He remembered he was on the way back from Kendrick’s. He pounded his head, thinking if he had any encounter with anyone. Yes, Morgan. But Morgan doesn’t know any of this; none of it.

“I’m sure you’re wondering how you got drugged, right?”

He stared at the wasabi dude.

“Looks like I’m right. Well, if you insist, you’re not the only one that has that kind of gadget. You see, someone did a big favor for me, not telling you though, but she placed it in your motorbike.”

A spy! A spy in Kendrick’s headquarters!
“Right, tell me. What is your name? She told me even Kendrick does not know since you’ve changed your name. I did a data check on you but it’s like you don’t exists, wipe out from the Earth.”

One of the twins took out his gag and he cleared his throat. Wasabi eye walked over to him and held on his chin.

“I’m asking you nicely, what is your name?”

He smiled.

“Didn’t you want to dispose of my body earlier on? So, what was the hold up?”

Wasabi slapped him, hard, on the face and yet he still chuckled.

“Am I such a mystery to you?”

He quickly scanned around the room, looking for a way to get out. He had the need to warn Kendrick about the spy. The room was grey in color and it looked like a box, a grey box. Until he saw the window.

A window! His chance of escape.

“TELL ME YOUR NAME!” Wasabi yelled in his ear.

“How about NO!” he yelled back, cheerfully, to be exact.

Wasabi cursed and walked towards the twins.

“Torture him until he tells you his name,” he whispered and left him to the mercy of the twins.

“Bring on the fun,” he said when Wasabi went out of the room.

The twins grinned like fools at each other and they went towards him, fists were balled into a tight one.

“I didn't know you and Leon had a thing for each other,” Clarisse said when she plucked out a flower’s petal, one by one.

“Same here, maybe he found out he liked me when I ‘saved’ him from Cynthia?”  I was lying on my back, watching the clouds sail passed by me.
“Say, Morgan. Don’t laugh at the question I’m going to ask next, okay?”
I prompt up on my elbows, eager to listen to Clarisse’s question.
“What do you think of Roy?”

He managed to give both the twins a lesson they will not forget. He jumped down the window and brushed the dust off his pants and hands while congratulate himself a job well done. He then took off running towards Kendrick's headquarters, without stopping to take a breath. It was an emergency that needed to be reported at once.

“Roy!?”

“Yes, Roy. What do you think about him?”
“Honestly, Clare, I don’t know. Wait, you… like him don’t you?” I knew I was grinning like a fool at Clarisse’s telling.
Clarisse’s face was turning bright pink, not to the fact that it was warm but she was actually blushing.
I pat Clarisse on the shoulder,
“I say, go for it, gal pal!”
Clarisse’s face brimmed with happiness and weirdly, I felt happy for her too.

“Morgan? Wake up, Morgan.”
A voice called out to me. I mumbled something even I didn’t know.
“Clarisse, wake up. It’s after school.”
I felt some movement beside me and someone tried to shake me by the shoulder yet I still refused to wake up.
“Why don’t I bring her home? Oh, Clarisse, Roy is looking for you,”
I felt foot steps going further and further away from me. But what was wrong with me? Why couldn’t I wake up? Why couldn’t I move my limbs or even open my eyes?

I felt someone pulled me up from my feet and I felt as though I’m on a bumpy ride.

“Morgan? There’s no need to be afraid. It’s me Leon. I’m bringing you back home, alright?”

Leon? But, why does his voice sound so different? His voice sounded so… gruff. I heard the car door opened and I finally was able to open my heavy eye lids. What I hoped to see was Leon but I was wrong. Instead of Leon, an Enormph that looked like Leon was staring at me. I choked back my scream, my breathing was getting heavier and heavier every passing minute. The Enormph could be an exact twin of Leon without the golden eye at the neck looking at me and without the colorful rainbow eyes staring at me, seizing my very soul.
“They say that eyes are the windows to our souls,” the Enormph whispered, quietly.

I quickly turned to face the door; tried pulling the handle yet, the door was locked. Unfortunately, the lock was the kind that sinks in. I turned to face the Enormph.

“What do you want from me?” I whispered, equally soft like the Enormph’s.
“It is not I who want something from you; it is him who needs something from you. Something you have yet discovered. A waste of talent, he told me and I have to agree.”
“What talent do I have?”
“Something magnificent that you have inherited from your own mother, Isabella,"
I froze when the Enormph spoke of my mother’s name.
“What does my mother have to do with all this!?”
“Ah, such naïve girl, with so much questions yet to be answered. No worries, the answers you seek will soon come to you but first, give me the thing which my master seeks most.”
Then Enormph reached over, his claws outstretched. I couldn’t breath and all I could think of was him.

He felt her screaming in his mind; screaming for him. He then felt something’s wrong. The scream sounded so familiar, Morgan!

The window behind me was smashed through and I could feel fresh air blowing into the car. The Enormph’s rainbow eyes went wide with shock as glass started to shower over me. A hand grabbed onto my waist and I was hosted up through the window. Immediately, I felt his presence. He came! He’s here!

He hoisted her out of the car and quickly covered her eyes, not wanting her to see his face. The sun was setting and he was glad. He quickly pushed Morgan into a dark alley and told her to stay put, her back was facing him all the time. He then rushed towards the car and yanked the passenger’s door open. The Enormph had taken shape into an unknown creature but he knew it was the Enormph all along.

“The nameless one. My master told me about you,” the Enormph growled through his fangs. Globs of saliva dripped from his chin and splattered onto the car sit.
“Give me your name, boy, and I will spare both you and The Sight,”

“Over my dead body!” he took out his gun, aimed at the Enormph’s neck and fired.

I heard a gun shot and smelt smoke. But he instructed me to keep my eyes closed and not move. I was shivering violently and I placed my hand over my mouth to not utter a sound.

“Nameless one, you’re too slow for something that is far older than your grandfather.”

The driver sit was empty and he found out the Enormph has ripped a hole through the car roof and was fluttering above his head.

“You have not seen the last off me, Nameless One.” with those words, the Enormph disappeared into the inky sky.

He sighed and placed the gun he took from a guard without the guard noticing into his back pocket. He went towards the place where he hid Morgan and he told her everything was alright and he is going to bring her back to her room. He then blindfolded her and piggybacked her all the way without any pit stop.

He placed her on the bed and she was still shivering with fright. He retrieved his jacket from her chair and he wore it, glad to feel the comfort of his jacket that was once again placed upon his shoulders, offering him warmth. He looked at Morgan and realized he couldn’t just leave her there.

“Face the wall,” he whispered into her ears and she obediently did. He then took off the blindfold and climbed onto the bed and rubbed her left shoulder, offering comfort. He realized she was sobbing.

“I’m here,” he whispered, slowly decreased the rubbing and hugged her from behind.
“There’s nothing to be afraid off,” he could feel her reached for his hands and held on tight. She couldn’t stop crying silently to herself. She then turned with both her eyes closed and buried her face on his chest.

“Shhh…” he shushed her, “I’m here, I’m here.”

“S…tay… stay w-with m-me un-until I s-sleep?” she begged, her face still buried on his chest; her tears was flowing rapidly until his shirt was soaked.

“For you Red Rose, anything.” he smoothed her hair down and kissed her forehead.

The moonlight streamed through her window, putting everything in her room aglow. Outside the room though, the sky was dotted with thousands of diamonds, filling up the sky with their shine. If only he looked out of the window, he will be able to see someone watching them with eyes that filled with hatred and sorrow.

I stood there, froze, like a statue.

Chapter 8: Her Fight

When he arrived to Morgan’s house, he saw Leon and immediately, his blood begun to boil. There was something wrong with this Leon, he felt as though he has seen Leon somewhere before, somewhere off in his past.

That is ridiculous; he has never seen Leon until Morgan started interacting with him, has he? He began to have doubts with himself.

He sighed and climbed up onto the room and wait for Morgan.
He was actually dead tired and he would like to go home and have a good night sleep after all, his shift has ended. Then again, he never really has shifts when it comes to her, most of the time it was him that look after her. If possible, 24 hours non-stop too and that includes her sleeping. But a promise he made, a promise he intend to keep no matter how tired he was.

He heard a door open and he knew it was her.

A note was placed just next to him with a pencil.

How whatever was happen went?

It went perfectly fine. How was your day?

It was wonderful.

He felt a pang of jealousy.

With him?

Obviously she knew perfectly who ‘him’ was without him elaborating or even write down his name.

We went to the beach.

Sounds nice.

His eyes could barely open, his fingers has lost its strength and he could feel his eyes lids slowly begun to droop. He shook his head and just left. He jumped down the roof and onto his motorbike, as fast as he could race home. He felt groggy, not tired; drugged not sleepy.

Dammit!

He left, just like that. I was so sure he has a logical explanation to do that. I washed up and went to bed. My head was filled with the golden beach and how firm Leon’s shoulder felt like. Before I closed my eyes, my phone rang.

Thanks for the wonderful day, Morgan. Maybe we should do that more often, right?

I smiled when I read Leon’s message.

Of course we’ll do it more often. But thanks to you, I caught the cold. ):

Ha-ha, don’t fret, I have it too.

Maybe we should infect the entire student body with our flu.

And we shall name it, MORGEON!

Morgeon!?

Yeah, Morgan and Leon, Morgeon!

Leon, I think the heat has gotten into you (:

Oh no, that’s where you’re wrong. YOU’VE gotten into me.

I smiled and kicked the air with excitement.

You’re too tired until you’re being delusional.

I don’t think so. I think it’s because I’ve spent a day with the most wonderful girl I’ve met a few days ago has made me into this!

What!? I think we should go to sleep just to stop you from being crazy.

Ah, yes. Sleeping is always the solution right?

I heard a thump just outside my roof. I placed my phone on my bed and went towards the window, thinking it was him, I opened the window. A screamed was caught in my throat, causing me to started wheezing. The eyes. These pair of eyes does not belong to any human. In fact, it looks like it belongs to an animal. But how can an animal as huge as a human able to climb up my roof? I took a step back, afraid of whatever it was that stood right in front of me. The moon came out from the dark cloud, bathing everything in its path with silver a streak of silver light.

A sinister smile came into view, globs and globs of saliva dripped onto the roof. The thing placed it’s right fore hand and took a step towards me. My eyes have never once left it’s, causing me to tremble with fear.

What happened next was something out of this world, something unbelievable, something magical yet terrifying at the same time and it was happening to me.

Michaela snickered as she readied her bow.

To avoid an Enormph, you must avoid looking in its eye.

Well, obviously Little Morgy does not know that.

Michaela took out a silver bow from her bag.

An Enormph, a half human, half beats and half fairy like creature. They come in different shapes and sizes, depending on their diet. They’ll look more human if they have been in contact with human in a long period of time yet they will eventually slowly shape shifted back to their original form if they lost contact with human though. Only people like Michaela are able to identify them. Honestly, an Enormph is a harmless creature, unless you trained it and feed it raw meat every single day.

Killing an Enormph is no simple work. Shooting it at the limbs is a waste of ammos; shooting it at vital parts like the stomach, the livers and so on are too, a waste of ammos; shooting at the head may buy you time, 10 seconds at most. But shooting at the neck or even hurting an Enormph’s neck is where you are able to bring back the spoil from the war.

Tough part is that the neck has two eyes; one back, one front. The back eye is to enable the Enormph to see it’s surrounding from the back, so it won’t be caught by surprised. Which then mean a sneak attack is pointless. Where else, the front eye is the main eye. The eyes on its face are its major weapons, one look at its magnificent eyes, you’ll be rooted on the stop until it slowly comes over and tear you into pieces with it’s needle like teeth unless it’s concentration on you have been broken.

Michaela placed her crossbow in position as she lay on her stomach.

Ready.

Aim.

I stood there, froze, like a statue. The thing in front of me is bald with a few wisps of white hair on its scalp. Its claws were clicking noisily as it took a few steps forward.
I studied its face; a mouth filled with sharp teeth; two slits for nose and a pair of marvelous pair eyes, the only thing that made me feel awed by it. Golden color was replaced by purple, I couldn’t move even if I wanted too. My limbs hung by my side like a pair of useless arms and my legs felt like lead.

I managed to take a small step backward, it was hard work and my forehead was filled with sweat for that effort. My eyes have never left the rainbow eyes, yet at the corner of my eyes, I saw my bedroom door was opened ajar.

My heart was pounding really fast, really hard.

The door, it was my only chance of escaping from this weird creature. The creature then stood up. I gasped when I saw a pair of folded arms beneath the main one.

The thing has four arms! What was that waving at the back, a tail? No it can’t be.

At the end of the ‘tail’, it spread out in five directions. I could feel sour bile building up behind my throat. It wasn’t a ‘tail’ after all, it was a hand.

Purple colored was replaced by blue.

Somewhere a cat let out a high pitched sound, causing the thing to look at that direction. It’s a signal, a signal for me to run.

I ran.

Wings were spread on its back.

Claws out stretched.

I tripped.

A shrieking sound filled the still night air.

It wasn’t a cat for the sound was close.

Warm blood was upon me, mostly my face.

I felt pain everywhere.

Aiming.

Aiming.

Shit! Why the hell did the Enormph moved in the window?

Michaela preferred fighting from far range and not a close combat. She does not have the strength or the stamina for one, or so she thought. Michaela cursed as she took out her gun, jumped of the building off from the roof where she was hiding. She somersaulted down onto a roof below her, just a few doors away from Morgan’s room. She hoped she could get there in time. She will not face the failure of herself in this mission; after all, she needs to gain their trusts and because of that, she needs to do it the hard way.

My eyes were closed shut when I tripped.

The scream did not come from me, it came from the thing. So is the blood yet the pain was on my right foot. Apparently, the thing grabbed hold onto my foot and squeezed due to the pain it felt. When I opened my eyes, I saw a woman standing outside of my window, on my roof, her gun gave off a smoky smell. The thing changed direction and faced the woman, one of its wings has a hole torn through and the back of its head was bleeding. Its wings were beautifully shaped, like a dragonfly’s yet with colors so magnificent, it looks like someone has used water paint colors and randomly painted its wings.

The thing hissed and I saw a golden eye focused on me. I got up and I grabbed the nearest object I could reach out too. I held it up as a weapon. Apparently what I was holding onto was a comb, a metal comb to be exact.

I missed!? How could I miss!?

Not after training every single day for four hours if she wasn’t being Morgy’s guard. She aimed at its neck and begun shooting, trying to avoid hitting Morgan. In the end, she was either one of the worst shooter on Earth or the Enormph was too quick for her. The Enormph had used its wings to divert the bullets and catching them with its lower part of the limbs.

The Enormph smiled, as to mock Michaela at how bad she is and there isn’t any way for her to defeat him. But Michaela will not give up; she needs to gain their trusts, very badly.
Michaela reached for her back pocket and produced a wicked looking army knife. She lashed out her hand, hoping to slice the Enormph’s throat open, leaving him drowning in his own blood.

Unfortunately, Michaela was, again, too slow for the Enormph. The Enormph has cut off her lash and he held her on her right arm. Just then, Michaela realized she needs more close combats practice after her encounter with the Enormph, if she still lives, that is.

“You… lose…” the Enormph said and started to stand up straight, leaving Michaela hanging on her right arm. The Enormph disarmed Michaela and gave out a bubbly snicker as he saw tears slowly flow down Michaela’s eyes.

The Enormph is right, she lost, and she is not only going to lose her life but to lose their trusts towards her.

When the Enormph open his mouth, she saw bits of fur and meat stuck between his teeth. His foul breath hit Michaela like a gust of wind when the Enormph laughed, his breath smelt like the mixture of raw meat and fur. Michaela couldn’t help but wonder if her body would be part of the bits that are stuck between his teeth; she shuddered as the thought entered her mind. She wiped her eyes and started to wonder why Morgan didn’t switch on the light.

It is because Morgan is afraid and rather watches her being devoured and come after Morgan later? Or Morgan has fainted or something.

Flash back started to come into Michaela’s mind’s eye. She saw herself being taken in by no one other than Kendrick himself. That was when she was able to meet him, a boy with one of the purest look she ahs ever seen. The trained together and sometimes, she wondered where did he disappeared too most of the time. She then found out of Morgan and she hated Morgan ever since.

She hated Morgan more at this moment.
Stupid Morgan who can’t even do a simple task, a simple ordered that was given by Michaela herself that may save both their life.

The Enormph pulled Michaela towards his mouth and began to sink his teeth in her neck.

A bright light burst open and Michaela blink, allowing her eyes to focus.
She saw the Enormph screamed and he let go of her.
She grabbed her army knife.

It’s now or never.

She got up, lashed out her hand, hoping to slice the Enormph’s throat open and let him drown in his own blood. Unfortunately, the Enormph caught her hand, again.

“My eyes may be temporary blind girl, but I still can sense you,”

He let out a loud wail as a hard object hit him at the back of the head. Michaela did a jump kick and her leg caught on the Enormph’s hand and she twisted his hand, causing him to fall. With a heavy thud, the Enormph fell, letting out a loud whoosh sound.

Michaela jumped on the Enormph’s back and she quickly took out her just-in-case knife and when she saw the golden eye on its neck opened, she quickly stabbed the Enormph with all her might before it was too late.

Blue colored blood started to flow on Morgan’s pale pink carpet. Michaela took out the same device he has and placed it on the Enormph. Michaela wiped her forehead and she picked up the device as soon as it was done with its thing.

“Who… who are you?” a voice whispered.

I stared at the woman in black in front of me. I felt safe yet in danger at the same time. The way she stood was like she was some kind of huntress, wild with beauty too. Her red hair that was tied up in a pony tail hung softy upon her shoulder. She placed both her knives back to where they belong.

“Someone you should be afraid of,” she said as she climbed out of the window.
“But, you saved me,” I forced myself to step forward, my hand outstretched, wanting to shake her hand for saving my life.
She stared at my hand in what I saw was in disgust.
“Don’t come any closer or I’ll change my mind about ‘saving’ you,”

She climbed out of the window and walked towards her gun.

“Tell me, who are you?” I whispered.
“Someone you should be afraid of from now onwards,”
“What is that thing?”

She sighed and sat on the roof as she fiddled with her pony tail.

“That was an Enormph,”
“How’d you know about it?”
“Look, Morgan!” she stood up, facing me.
“Stop asking me ridicules questions. I know what are you thinking right now, why isn’t he here? Where is he? Oh yes Morgan, I know about him. In fact…”

She stopped halfway and silently cursed. When I blinked my eyes, she was gone. Just like that; as though she has evaporated herself in thin air. I heard my door squeaked and I saw my dad standing by the doorway.

“Honey, what are you doing up so late?”

I sighed and went to my bed, thoughts running wildly in my mind like untamed horses.

“Nothing, just going to bed.”

“I thought I heard voices,”

“I was talking on the phone,” my eyes were fixed on the liquid which were drying up rapidly.

“Well, it’s late and I think you should go to bed,”

“I was until you came in, dad.”

“Alright, tomorrow’s a school day isn’t it?”

“Yes, dad,”

“Well, I’m going to bed. See you tomorrow?”

I hoped so.

“Yeah, goodnight.”

My dad turned off the light and left the room.

He heard voices.

“Dispose of this body,”
“But, sir!”

He managed to open his eyes but his vision was still blurred. He could make out a few men and he saw one particular one that has sandy blond hair and a pair of wasabi green eyes. He figured out he was lying on the cold floor when he silently tried to move. His hands and legs were bound up, no surprise there. He then took out a pocket knife from his back pocket and silently cut the ropes, unaware that someone was watching him.

Something hard hit his head and he fell into darkness once again.

“That’s my girl,”

Chapter 7: Her Name

“That was but now, it will never be my name,” he growled.
“Young Vincent, it’s the name I’ve given to you and that name will be yours,” the man said.
“But, Kendrick, I have my own name; a name of which I’ve given myself,” he sat down on the chair nearest to him.
“And tell me, what is your name now so I could address you properly?”
“That, my friend and father, is a secret.” he flashed Kendrick a row of pearly whites.

The men there, including the guard gave him a weird look; a look that made him feel like he is out of place. But how could he? He practically grew up in this place, after all, Kendrick was the one whom took him in, gave him a name and gave him an identity. Not to mention, a home and a father he never once had. In return of all those wondrous things, he has to work for Kendrick, putting his life in danger, it’s a small price to pay considering on how Kendrick gave him a life.

After all, Kendrick could easily take away any life he has given. It was like a snap of his fingers, bullets will come raining upon the poor victim. He has witness every single one. There was this boy, once his good friend, the boy betrayed Kendrick, thinking he could run away from this awful place but without much to his knowledge, Kendrick, who has many men all around the globe managed to tracked him down in less than a day, captured the poor bastard in less than an hour and finished him off in less than a minute. That was how powerful Kendrick was and still is.

Kendrick even made every new member to witness on how he killed the boy. The boy, only a year older than him which was around ten years old, made up his mind one day;  a choice which he gravely regretted as soon as Kendrick found him. You see, the boy was still naïve but to Kendrick, once betrayed, always will betray, no matter whom. Kendrick, a man who believes in trusts will not have a member like him in the group or being part of the family. With much heartache, he finished off the boy with a poison drink, forcing the boy to drown it down his throat. And with every gulp the boy took, Kendrick’s hand shivered and tears started flowing down his grim face. To him, every member is like his son or his daughter. That was how painful for him to actually kill a ten years old boy.

Kendrick turned towards the men and said in a grave voice,
“Leave us,”
Chairs were being shuffled back and mutters started to stirs up the atmosphere.
“That includes you, Rick.”
Kendrick tilted his head to one side while looking at the man that brought both him and her in.
“Yes, sir.”
Once everyone was out, Kendrick gave a loud clap, motion Miss Redhead to have a sit and he smiled at both at them.

She was nervous alright. He could feel her shaking for she sat close to him, thinking he would offer her protection, but from what? Kendrick will never, never harm them unless they betrayed him or something like that.
“It’s going to be alright,” he whispered, so soft only she could hear him.
She took a deep breath, turned towards him and gave him a small nod and a hint of smile.
“Now, let’s get started, shall we?” Kendrick’s voice echoed in the empty hall.

Leon arrived shortly after I was done getting dressed. I wore a black tank top due to the hot weather and a pair of green colored shorts which matched my green converse. I went into his car while tying my hair into a pony tail. As soon as I opened the car door, cool air greeted me along with a hint of cologne.

“Hello there,” Leon flashed me a smile which caused me to smile.
“Hey,” I closed the door and placed my sit belt into place.
“Tell me, Mighty Morgan, what should we do to have fun today?”
“Uh,”
“What about the beach?”
Leon started to drive down the lane.
I smiled.
“To the beach!” I yelled, filled with excitement.

Kendrick took out a notepad and a pencil. He looked at him with full of concentration.
“Statics reports for the past few days which you never even bothered to call me and actually give me a short notice at where you were.”
“I was sick,” he replied shortly. He reached over and placed his left hand over her shaking hands. It comforted her, until Kendrick burst out laughing.
“My dear Vincent,” Kendrick said while wiping his laughing tears away.
He growled though his teeth.
“You haven been sick ever since I’ve took you in, what caused the sickness now”
“I had a fever.”
“And how did you managed to catch something as stupid as that?”
“I was under the rain for quite a while.”
“Doing what?”
Kendrick’s blue eyes blazed like a pair of twin fire, burning brightly in his sockets. Kendrick was excited to listen to such information and he was curious too.
“Walking back to the house.”
As soon as those words escaped from his mouth, the pair of blazing blue fire died down a little, with disappointment. Kendrick thought maybe he was out hunting those men. He started to tap his pencil onto the marble table. She could not stop her nervousness. Kendrick turned towards her,
“Is it true?”
She managed to nod after gulping down her saliva, he tongue felt thick and dry and she thought is she would say something, her tongue would not cooperate with her. So, the safest thing was to give a simple nod.
“And the men?”
She cleared her throat and took a deep breath, she could feel seat started to gather on her forehead and her palms were getting sweatier and sweatier every passing minute.
“One of them got away,” she managed to whispered.
He turned and looked at her; the pair of onyx eyes was so intense that she could not bear to see his face any longer. Instead, she bent her head down with shame, not wanting to look at anyone in the eyes. Not the pair of baby blues that were getting brighter and brighter every minute, not at the pair of onyx that was filled with much hollow and coldness towards her. He snatched his hand away from her as though she has some kind of weird disease on and it will infect to those who come in contact with her.
“WHAT!?” Kendrick yelled, his voice echoed through out the whole hallway, it was so loud that the men outside the room actually took a step back; fearing Kendrick might burst through the doors any second.
“You did not finished them off!?” his voice now directly towards him. He turned his head and faced Kendrick, staring at his baby blues while saying these few words.
“They were dead when I left them,”
Kendrick howled with much frustration, his snow white hair was being pushed back over and over again as he swept his hand over his hair. Finally, he stopped, sat on his chair and stare at him.
“Did you confirm?”
He nodded.
“Did you place the Liquid on both of them?”
“That, I did. I even stood there, making sure that both of them melted along with the liquid,”
“Then, either one of you must be lying,” Kendrick said it in a matter-of-fact tone.
“I saw one of them on my way back from his house!” she said while standing up, she was no longer afraid. After all, she was innocent as a baby. She indeed saw one of the men got up and shuffled slowly into the dark alley.
“Oh? Did you finish him off when you saw him?” Kendrick now fully directed his gaze at her.
“N-no,” she stammered as she sat on her chair, feeling ashamed for not finishing that blardy bastard off.
“Wait!” she cried, her eyes glittered with excitement.
“You said ‘both’ didn’t you?”
He nodded, filled with determination and authorization. Of course he said both! After all, there were both men there, trying to kill him. One even managed to cut his chest.
“I saw the third one lurking at the corner of the alley, maybe out of your sight. I thought you saw him, I don’t know, but at that time, I had to go off to help one of the men.”
“But why my Dear, didn’t you finish him off?” Kendrick’s voice was now soft with sympathy.
“I was scared, I was afraid I was not up to it, not as strong as him,” she nodded at his direction, “nor as intelligent as you. Even though you’ve trained me, I was still afraid for I’ve never been on the field before.
“My Dear, this shall be the latest assignment for you and you only. No one is to help you and if you asked for help, you know what will happen if you disobey me.”
Miss Redhead nodded, she remembered quite clearly about the ten years old boy.
“Yes, sir.” she said quietly.

We had an ice-cream each and a hot dog too as soon as Leon parked his car. Halfway through my ice-cream though, I smashed my cone on Leon’s face due to the fact that his cheeks looked red.

“To cool you down,” I said with a cheeky smile.
Leon started to chase after me and as an athlete, he managed to catch up on me within seconds, pulled me on the sand and we started rolling on the sand like playful puppies.
“It is not me that needs to be cooled off, Morgan; I believe the heat has gotten into you to actually smash your ice-cream cone on my face!”
He picked me up and carried me to the wide ocean.
“Leon! Wait!” I started to squirm, wanting nothing but to get away from the ocean.
He stopped and looked at him, his legs were in the water and if he lets go of me, I’ll be drenched head to toe.
I laughed and wiped a cream off his nose. He smiled and pulled me closer to him, to kiss him. Unfortunately or fortunately, a huge wave broke in, causing Leon to fall down which then caused both me and Leon himself soaked. I pushed Leon as I tried to get up; he held onto my hand and pulled me down on his lap. The tide has gone down within seconds. I wished I could stay like this, in his lap with the sound of the waves breaking in forever but I felt guilty; really, really guilty.

Golden rays hit my eyes and I was forced to shield my eyes from the sunlight.
“Sun set,” Leon breathe in my ear.
“Let’s sit under a tree and have a better look,” I got up and held out my right hand to Leon. He took my hand and led me to a tree where we watched the sun go down the horizon. It was beautiful, like a picture painted. The rays of the sun were reflected on the ocean, causing the ocean to have a magnificent golden color, like a golden paint was being dipped into a blue water color. Instead of being mixed together, the blue was being over powered by the golden. I sighed with happiness and leaned my wet head onto Leon’s shoulder and he rests his head on mine.

“Beautiful.”
“Hmm?”
“Both you and the view.” he lifted his head from mine and I looked at his wasabi eyes.
He leaned towards me, decreasing the space between us. My heart was pounding really hard at that moment; I was afraid it might break my rib cage and started running away from me, from the cage it was contained in. His mouth was inches away from mine.

Until I sneezed.

What a way to spoil the mood.
Leon looked at me with amusement in playing in his eyes.

“Let’s go back before you actually catch a cold and I would not be able to bring you out again.”

I nodded and sneezed again. We both headed to his car, hand in hand.

“That’s my Michaela!” Kendrick said with a smile.

Michaela’s baby blues burned with determination as he stood up. He could not wait until he put his arms around Red Rose but then again, it would be so unprofessional, so unlike him. He sighed as he walked out of the door before Kendrick could utter another word.
