Someone, please, help me.

Chapter 13: His Defeat

He took out his gun as Michaela turned around. Both of them are facing the woods with their arms outstretched, pointing their guns at the dark trees. They stayed at their position for quite awhile, ready for the attack. The wind died down yet the leaves of the trees are still moving by an unnatural breeze. He then saw fast movements in the through the trees; moving from left to right and right to left.

Get ready, he told himself as he narrowed his eyes at a particular black shadow which was growing larger and larger any minute. He readied his finger at the trigger and wait for the attacker.

With a burst of a wind, an Enormph appeared. Its wings were beating fast, improving its speed every second. With its claws outstretched, it went head on to him. He saw the Enormph smiled with triumph as it was 5 feet away from its victim. Obviously it was downed with excitement it didn’t see the gun he was holding.

He aimed his gun at the Enormph’s golden eye before firing. The grin of the Enormph was immediately wiped off by some invisible hand and was replaced by a frown, the excitement in the Enormph’s eyes was replaced by fear and the golden eye widen with shock. The last thing Enormph saw was a silver bullet, moving against the still air as it started decreasing the space between them.

The Enormph fell flat on its face just in front of him. His gun gave off a smoky smell yet he did not leave his eyes from the trees. On his right, he heard Michaela breathing heavily when she was done with her Enormph. He saw a golden furred lion laying just a couple feet away from her, it slowly shifted back to its original shape; an Enormph with a face of a lion and cat like paws instead of hands. Michaela turned towards his attention and smiled, thinking it was just mere fight but fights like these aren’t usually easy, especially now. Without another beat of the heart, more Enormphs appeared from the dark trees; some were flying, some where scurrying on all fours yet one particular one was standing behind the whole army of Enormphs, watching the scene that was going to lie out at a safe distance.

That Enormph and him lock gazes and he immediately knew that Enormph was the one that kidnapped Morgan and attacked him when he saved her. The Enormph smiled, showing off his needle-like teeth; smiling like he was going to win.

I’m not going down without a goddamn fight! He thought as he grinded his teeth.

“Back to back!” he yelled a command to Michaela.

He immediately felt the warmth of Michaela’s back against him. With a blink of an eye, Enormphs surround them like ants swarm over a cube of sugar. Gun shots were fired yet weirdly enough, the Enormphs were fast. Michaela and his movements were too, fast, their movements were like liquid, like a dance being coordinated out; shifting the gun from one hand to another, shooting at great distance and kicking at near distance. Their movements were so fast; you could see a blur of red and black, constantly changing their standing style. 

His gun suddenly clicked; he ran out of precious bullets. He then heard a Michaela muttered shit. Her gun too, ran out of bullets. The Enormphs took cautious step back, their eyes looking at the empty guns. A sea of needle like teeth gleamed under the dim sun when they found out both humans is weaponless. Michaela and he stood back to back, breathing heavily as sweat trickled down their brow which is then mixed with blood stains on their faces. Even though greatly outnumbered, they will not give up, no. He then curled his fists into tight balls, positioned himself into a boxing stance. Michaela however, produced two wicked looking knives from both sides of her boots. The Enormphs then no longer smiling for the knives looked extremely sharp. They then looked uncertain for the two of them have killed a rather huge amount of them.

He heard Michaela breathing rapidly; he was worried if this was her limit. One of the Enormphs than hissed through it’s teeth, like cats hissing at their enemies. Soon, many Enormphs joined together, the hissing begun to grow louder and louder and they attacked. Their claws outstretched, teeth gleamed with saliva. Not a hint of hesitation nor a doubt of fear.

He punched and kicked as hard as he could, lashing out his own personal fury and anger towards the raging Enormphs. Yet killing an Enormph was hard for they have eyes in front of them let alone the back of their neck. Not only that, huge mass of animals with heavy weight constantly pin him down, scratched him, biting chunks of his flesh yet he won’t give up. No matter how badly he is hurt. Through the hissing sounds, he heard slashing and screams of dying Enormphs. Michaela was able to hold herself, not needing any of his help because she has a pair of weapons. He needs to get a weapon to defend himself and fast. Knocking Enormphs down are not enough, they need to be eliminated. He then spotted Michaela’s bag from a distance. He then kicked the lion off him and sprayed contents of the Liquid to the rest of the Enormphs, causing them to burn in pain. It maybe temporary but he needs that short amount of distraction. He then run, run as fast as he can, running towards Michaela’s bag and rooted through her things, finding anything he could get his hands on to defend himself. He then score out a pair of guns and a small devices.

Yes!

He then tinkled with the device, setting the right time and everything. He was to preoccupied by both the device until to the point he didn’t notice a flying Enormph was behind him. With a snarl, the Enormph grabbed him from behind and sunk its teeth in his exposed neck area, causing him to drop the small device. He grunted in pain and anguish as he reached behind, he then held on to the Enormph’s head and with all his might, he pull the Enormph forward; causing the Enormph to let go of with along with a chunk of meat. While falling with his head facing down, he aimed and shot the Enormph that was nearing towards him. With wide eyes, the last thing the Enormph saw was a silver bullet on its way to the golden eyes.

He then hit the ocean with a splash. Though it was a hard fall, he quickly recovered and began his search for the devices. It’s important for it’s the only way out and the only way to survive. He finally found the device and chucked it safely in his pocket. He then waded towards shore and run towards Michaela.

“Michaela!” he yelled as he threw the device towards Michaela as soon as he caught her attention. As soon as she caught the device, she saw it was a round black box with a red button to press on; her blades were no longer sharp and long for the Enormphs broke it, this was her ticket out. She saw him running towards her through the bodies of angry Enormphs and she understood.

She pressed the button.

A blinding white light exploded from the black box and Michaela was forced to close her eyes. She felt someone pulling her away from the flash, far far away. It was a time bomb; he altered the bomb to explode after 15 seconds which was enough time for the both of them to get to safety.

“Quickly!” he said as they swim further from the angry blind Enormphs. Halfway from swimming, he looked at the distance behind him and saw an Enormph that stood on both feet wasn’t there. He then realized that the particular Enormph wasn’t involved in the fight too.

Where is he?

 “It’s the bomb right?” she asked, spitting out the salty sea water from her mouth when she spoke.

He nodded, eyes still finding that Enormph. He then gave up, for it was too far to search for that Enormph. He then held her hand and told her to take a huge breath and he dived in the water, pulling Michaela with him.

They dive deeper and deeper until Michaela let out a bubbly gasp. He turned and saw an Enormph swimming towards him, he then realized this Enormph has evolved. The Enormph had a fish-like tail and it is using the muscles in the tail to swim towards them, gaining up with their speed. Six limbs appeared; four hands and two legs. The Enormph disarmed him as soon as it saw the gun; it then kicked him hard on the stomach and used all four of its hands to punch him, hard on the chest and stomach. He let out a few bubbles of air and his eyes were closed; he was defeated. Water was never his element and he felt soft lips upon his s air was passed through his mouth. He opened his onyx eyes and saw Michaela smiling but her smile was soon vanished and her eyes were widen with surprised as a pair of hands grabbed on the stomach and she was pulled away from him.

He swam as fast as he could; the Enormph had taken Michaela and was soon airborne. But before the Enormph reached the surface, it turned around and stared at him and he realized it was the Enormph that stood on both feet; the Enormph that attacked Morgan the other day.

“Boy, you will never be able to kill something far older than anyone else in this planet,” it hissed and burst out from the ocean.

He was too late yet he didn’t want to give up. Somehow the strength in him started to fade away as he reached towards the surface.

“MICHAELA!” he screamed in the water, bubbles floated above his head.

“MICHAELA!”

“MICHAELA!”

A blinding white light covered the dark sky above him and the impact was great. It pushed him back, deeper into the dark ocean. He felt hurt all over but his mind has never left Michaela; her smile, her laughter, the young girl he first saw when he saved her from an Enormph. His strength finally left him and he sank into darkness as the underwater current pushed him down, down to the sea bed.

“MICHAELA! MICHAELA!” she heard through the whirling of the Enormph’s dragonfly wings, through the grunts and deep breathing of the Enormph, through the blinded Enormphs that were still screaming with pain.

She closed her eyes and a tear escaped; she then smile. Maybe it’s her time to go, who knows? She faced up towards the dark sky and she opened her eyes. She saw a golden sun trying hard to shine through the dark clouds. She closed her eyes again, trying to fill her mind with happy thoughts.

Her father, her mother, most of all him.

She could still taste him on her cold, trembling lips when she gave him air to survive. The Enormph was flying higher and higher as fast as it could, to avoid the bomb that was placed.

It wasn’t quick enough.

“MICHAELA!” the last she heard was his voice, crying out to her.

“I love you,” she whispered him even though she knew he couldn’t hear her.

A blinding white light suddenly appeared, and she felt pain all over. She heard the Enormph too, crying out with pain.

“Goodbye,”

She smiled.

“Boy!” he heard a gruff voice called out towards him. He doesn’t want to move or to open his eyes.  He felt something shook him and he finally opened his eyes with much annoyance. A pair of baby blues was staring down at him, with much concern too.

“Kendrick?” he tried to said but started to cough up sea water. He felt Kendrick pat his back to help him get rid of all the water.

He was finally finished and he looked at Kendrick.

“Where am I?” he asked.

Kendrick looked away, as though seeing this boy would hurt him. It all suddenly came to him; the fight, the Enormphs, Michaela.

Her image flashed into his mind and he gripped hold of Kendrick’s hand.

“Michaela!? Where is Michaela!?” he asked and shook Kendrick hard. “Is she okay?”

“Boy, we both know she did not survive the bomb. You were lucky for the water was like a shield. Let her go, boy. She was much to a daughter to me like she was your sister.”

He failed. He failed to save his mother and he failed to save Michaela. He once again felt defeated and sank back on the soft sand. Darkness greeted him with open arms.

What is going on? What is happening to me? Why am I able to see those? Someone help me, someone please give me the answer to my questions, letting me to be able to understand. Someone, please, help me…

To tell you the truth, it was living hell for me to write out a fighting scene. hope ya'll like it though.
