#25 The Sorcerer

She slowly dance in the dark night with the moon illuminating upon her. Her dress fluttered softly in the breeze at every turn she took.

Magnificent.

Her eyes was closed and she was absorbed to the music the night forest played for her. But without her knowing, a lone sorcerer was watching her every move, her every steps, her every body coordination.

As the sorcerer saw the beautiful creature dancing gracefully in the night, he could not help but wanting to keep her all to himself. He was being selfish and he knew it and yet, he didn't care; for such beautiful creature maybe able to free him from loneliness.

He then muttered a spell; casting it over the graceful creature, trying to trap her and make her his. But his spell was cut short when he heard or rather felt the creature moving further and further away from him. He opened his olive green eyes and he was right, she has vanished.

But no matter. He knew she would come back as she always does every night.

She came back on the following night and she once again dance gracefully under the moonlight. The stars twinkled with laughter and the clouds were gently moved by the wind. It felt as though the whole sky was dancing with her and the moon was her spotlight.

He quickly cast the spell. This time he was prepared and will not hesitate to take her in his clutches. He opened a box that was platted with diamonds and sapphires and many other rare and precious stones that not many could get their hands on them; not even the king.

As soon as he opened the box, a soft lullaby was played and as soon as it reaches the graceful creature's ears; slowly, little by little, she began to disappear. When the lullaby ended, the dancing creature was gone.

The sorcerer snapped the box shut and walked home, holding back his laughter and excitement.

Dance for me, forever and always.
Never destroyed but forgotten.

She was trapped and she was frightened. Not a single light was shed in the darkness.
So dark, so scared.

He took the box out from his sleeve and he set it lightly on the table. He then lighted a candle nearby him with just a snap of his fingers. He couldn't hold the excitement in him as he reached towards the box and he opened the box. As soon as the lid was lifted, music filled the still air.

Light... Light was filling the dark, dark place; extinguishing darkness itself. Happiness bubbled inside her and she could not help but to dance. But the light wasn't alone, it has brought music along with it.

He saw her dance gracefully with the music. Her movements were like liquid, gliding to every corners of the box; not leaving any space out. She then felt as though someone was watching her and she stopped dancing and looked up.

"Oh..." a soft sigh slipped from her lips.

"Dance for me, fair creature," the sorcerer said.

"Tell me, sorcerer, where am I?"

"A place where you'll always be from now on. You're mine as I will be yours,"

"Somehow your words have touched me. Yet you do not reveal your name,"

She saw her captive looked up as though he was in deep thought.

"Sebastian," his jaw moved.

"Let me out, Sebastian, as I have to return to my family,"

She then saw worried flickered across his eyes.

"Dance for me every time I open this box until I am content. Then, you will be free from me,"

"How long?" her voice cracked as she missed her family.

She saw the sorcerer smiled and closed the box.

"How long?" she cried.

Day by day, the sorcerer opened the box without fail. Yet she did a few moves and sat at a corner weeping. He felt heartbroken every time he saw her despair face.

"What despairs you so?"

"I am always coop up in the box and I always look forward to see your face that will appear from the dark and to the day I'm free,"

Her words touched him.

"Why is that I never felt hungry nor thirsty either tired?"

"Magic," he answered.

"Let me free," she begged as tears formed in her eyes.

"But I've come to fall in love with you, how am I able to set you free now? If I do, I might not be able to watch you dance,"

"But I'm too homesick to dance in this box like I've dance in the woods. Set me free, Sebastian. If you love me, prove it to me,"

The sorcerer's heart was torn in two. Yes, he has loved her so. These unusual feelings has developed over the past few months. But if he were to let her free, she might run and never look back at him anymore. But if he were to hold on to her freedom, she might never dance as she used to dance in the woods.

What should he do?

“You can’t even let her see your goddamn face!”

Chapter 16: His Outburst

“Sources told me she disappeared into the darkness,”

Kendrick’s voice kept on repeating in his mind, as though it’s been burnt in his mind, permanently.

Morgan, where are you?

He felt worried and paranoid. What if an Enormph got her first? What if he was too late? What if he was wasting his time, waiting for someone who might be dead already? But like the same instinct he has for Michaela, he knew somehow Morgan is still alive, somewhere. He just needed to be patience and wait for her return. Yet he knew his patience was running thinner and thinner.

“I knew you’d believe me. After all, I’m telling you nothing but the truth,”

I started to breathe heavily and I looked up at Lune, wishing so much that he would just burst out laughing and say, “Gosh, Morgan, this is just a dream!”

But it was all true and it was happening right before my very eyes.

“I don’t want this!” I screamed as I went hysterical and stood up so hard, the chair fell on the floor with a loud bang. I brought my hands to my head and shut my eyes. “I don’t want this, I don’t want this, I don’t want this, I don’t want this,”

“Estrella,” I heard Lune said with a soft tone as he cupped his hands on my shoulders. “Someday, you’re going to regret saying that. After all, your power saved you a couple of times,”

I snapped my head up, turned around and looked at Lune in the eyes. His citrine eyes were serious, “A couple of times?”

“Too many times to count but this is one of mom’s favorite story,” Lune’s lips were twitched slightly as though he remembered something funny. “Mom told me what remarkable powers you had, a complete opposite of mine. I was around 6 at that time and you were 4. She told me once that you were playing with candles in your room; carefully controlling the golden flames with your fingertips. An Enormph then suddenly attacked both of you through the open window. The Enormph knocked mom out and it tried to take you away.

“Upon seeing mom falling on the hard floor, you were shocked and started to ward off the Enormph using your fire. Mom woke up when she heard the Enormph screaming and the house was set on fire. Not just any fire, but blue fire. You body were covered by tongues of flames; licking your bare skin. Yet you weren’t hurt or burnt. Mom tried to control the fire, to extinguish it. But she wasn’t as powerful as you, ‘Your sister was one of the most amazing thing that I’ve ever had, aside from you, darling,’ mom said to me.”

I started to tear up. I remembered my mom tucking strands of stray hair behind my ears when I was younger.

Lune walked towards the door and said, “Tonight we shall enjoy the moon and tomorrow; you’ll have to learn to control your powers,”

My mouth hung opened.

“Don’t, you look like a fish gasping for air,” Lune giggled. His laughter sounded like bells; tinkling in the dark night. I closed my mouth and felt heat rising up to my cheeks.

“How do I get back to my world?” I asked Lune.

“You are in your world,”

“I meant to the world I’m living in. What’s this world called anyways?”

“Skia,”

“Skia?”

“It means Shadow in Greek. This place was originally found by the Greeks and since sunlight has never shed here before, they called it Skia, the world of Shadows.”

“So you mean this place has never touched sunlight before?”

“That’s it,”

This explains why Lune’s skin was so pale.

“All you have to do is to think of the place you want to go and walked through the door. Here, let me guide you.”

“Wait! But how come I fainted before coming here?”

“Your body was trying to adapt, but your mind wasn’t powerful enough,”

“How come I know this place?”

“You felt left out and alone. You were scared and frightened and so your mind was thinking about somewhere where you feel safe and wanted. Thus, a door was formed beneath you as you fainted from the power,”

It was true that I felt despair and I felt like a freak. Maybe, maybe it was true after all.

“Come, shall we?” Lune stretched out his left hand towards me, offering me to place mine upon his. I hesitated for a while and I finally placed my hand upon his. His fingers laced with mine as he held my hand tight. The coldness of his palm swept into my trembling hand. I wasn’t trembling with fear; I was trembling with excitement as I thought of home. Lune twisted the door knob and a dark passage was revealed.

He saw fingers reached out towards the dark sky; fingers out of nowhere. He scrambled to his feet and took out a gun, pointing towards the weird fingers. He then heard voices and a soft laughter.

Is this some kind of new power an Enormph has obtained?

His breathing deepened as he once again heard laughter. An arm revealed itself which followed by a leg and another, a head was then revealed but it’s hair was covering it’s face.  He quickly jumped behind the roof and from there he peeked at the weird creature. Finally, the whole body emerged but what is this? A hand was linked to the creature and another creature came out. He stood up, gun pointing at both the creature. He knew he was half hidden in the shadow that was provided by a tree. A soft laughter once again rang through the night.

It sounded familiar. Red Rose?

“Put the gun down, my friend, I’m your alley,” the creature then looked at his direction and a soft smile.

The creature’s eyes were color of citrine; like a pair of wolves, hunger in the winter. Morgan then stood next to him and he saw her gripping tightly on to the creature’s shoulder blade.

“The name is Lune. I know you’re Estrella’s protector since young,” Lune’s lip tugged as he couldn’t help but to smile as sarcasm dripped upon the word ‘protector’. “Your mother and everyone that stayed in your house were massacred by your dad, I supposed. Which I’m pretty sure is an Enormph. Ironic isn’t it? You killing Enormphs now as you, yourself, is half Enormph.”

He gripped his gun tightly, wishing so much to pull the trigger. But he can’t he won’t. Well, not when Morgan standing so close to Lune.

“I’m pretty sure the whole thing was traumatic, after all, having your own mother being killed by your father. You, my dear friend, are an abomination.” Lune gave a smug smile as he tilted his head a little higher. “No human has ever had an affair with an Enormph and worst off, have an offspring. You’re neither human nor Enormph, you’re an abomination which is dangerous to be around Estrella. Ever since you’ve poked your way through Estrella’s life, more and more Enormphs have laid their goddamn eyes on her. When they found out what she is, her life will be at risk! And you, you are the cause of it,”

“Lune,” Morgan said as she pulled Lune’s shoulder back. But instead of taking a step back, Lune took a step forward, towards him.

“You’re the whole reason why she is suffering in high school. Do you actually think her life will be safe within your hands as you tried to protect her? What about her friends? What about her father that she is living right now? Do you think you can protect everyone she has come in contact with when you can’t even protect Michaela let alone your own mother?” his smile became more and more menacing.

He heard Morgan gasped as she placed her hand upon her lips. He refused neither to back down nor to hang his head in defeat. But doubt began settling in his heart and he felt heavier and heavier as words of Lune sunk in his system.

“That’s right; you stood by the side when you saw your mother being slapped by your father. Those nights when you heard sobbing from the hallway to your room was your mother’s. The loud thumps you often heard was none other than your mother being punished by your father, your ruthless father. But what did you do? Did it ever occur to you to call the police or something? Have you tried protecting your mother? No! You pretended to not hear a thing and carry on with your simple life of toys and games!

“If you were to do something about it, your mother might still be alive right now and you won’t place Estrella’s life in danger.”

“I was just a kid!” he shouted across as he placed his hand by his side. He no longer could hold back. He dropped his gun as he lost his grip. He saw Lune smirked with pleasure at his outburst. He saw Morgan cringed with fear from his voice. Morgan… His shout turned into an echo which then faded along with the night breeze.

“Oh? Being a kid has no excuses. I’ve seen many abused kids took opportunity to call the cops or to have someone to help them, to save themselves as well as their family. But you were stuck in a delusion where you think you have a prefect family,”

“Lune,” Morgan’s voice called out timidly, “Lune, I think it’s enough,” she tugged Lune’s sleeve.

“Estrella, I’m trying to let him know his mistakes. After all, I’ve been watching him and better yet, I know his past. Don’t you think it’s safer for you to stay in Skia where you’re unable to place your friends and father’s life in danger?”

Morgan looked uncertain.

“Maybe not tonight, I’m tired, Lune, and I need some rest. So much have been going on today,”

“Goodnight, Estrella. Remember, all you have to think of is me when you need to find me,” Lune smiled as he guided Morgan to her bedroom window. “Sweet dreams, I’ll see you later,”

“You’re wrong,”

Both Morgan and Lune stopped in their tracks. Lune then turned to face him and walked a couple of step towards him, fearlessly.

“I’m wrong? Point me out at the point where I’m wrong,”

“I… I tried to save my mother. But I was threatened by him,” his whole body shook with anger.

“Being threatened has nothing to do with it. Are you sure you want to continue? I mean, you’ve been keeping your background from Estrella here and maybe I could just tell everything to her about her protector,”

“Being threatened is a serious thing,”

“Oh? I’ve been threatened by many and here I am, still alive,” Lune’s arms were outstretched.

“Maybe the threats you were given was taking away your candy. But when I threaten people, I’m being serious about it,”

“What can you do, abomination?”

“I’m warning you,”

“All you can do is just sit at the corner and watch the people you’ve loved die right before your eyes. You can’t save, you–”

Morgan gave off a shriek when she saw Lune’s head was violently pushed to a side and as the impact was so great, he fell to his knees. She quickly ran to Lune and placed her arm around him.

“Lune! Lune! Are you okay? What happened?” she then saw Lune coughed out a few mouthful of blood and a thin ribbon of blood was running down his nose. “Oh, Lune!”

“You’re fast, I’ll give you that,” Lune said and coughed.

After coughing, Lune used the back of his hand to rub off the blood from his nose. Morgan then used her thumb to wipe the blood off his lips. The way she looked at Lune hurt him deeply. He was just a few feet away from both of them. His right fist was covered with ribbons of blood. Small droplets dripped off his knuckles and landed on the roof. His fury and frustration has yet satisfied. He wanted to beat this punk’s face until his own mother couldn’t recognize him. His breathing deepened.

The night air was still and damp with nothing but crickets singing with happiness. He then heard a soft giggle which turned to laughter, laughter coming from Lune. Morgan then helped Lune get to his feet and he quickly walked back in the shadows. Lune’s laughter rang louder and he kept on laughing even when both his knees buckled.

“Lune, let’s go in and get you washed up,” Morgan began to bring Lune to her room.

“You can’t even bloody let her see your goddamn face! She doesn’t even know your background until now. But then again, it’s only 10%! She doesn’t know your previous name and your current name!” Lune was shouted hysterically at him. “You made her promise never to do things she wishes to do! You’re holding her captive! You’re hypnotizing her with your petty words! Have you ever considered how the hell she feels being cooped up and do nothing but to think of you!? You’re nothing but an inconsiderate bastard who can’t even protect his own mother!”

Lune was then pulled out from Morgan’s arm and she fell heavily on to the roof. He held Lune by his collar and brought him close to his face.

“Shut the hell up,” he whispered quietly yet deadly.

“Or what?” Lune smirked in front of his face.

He then swung a punch at Lune’s abdomen, causing Lune to choke up all the breath in him. But despite being out of air, Lune then grabbed on his collar and pulled him closer.

“The reason why I didn’t fight back was because Morgan asked me not to. Seeing how violent you are, I doubt that she wants to see you anymore,” Lune whispered softly in his ear. He then pushed Lune with all his might and Lune fell on the roof, laughing.

He then walked towards Morgan and held out his hand, wanting to help Morgan to her feet.

“Get away from me!” she screamed at him when his shadow overpowered her. “Get away!” she raised both her arms to shield her head, as though he was going to hurt her.

“Red Rose-”

“Get away!” she shrieked.

He was taken back and he redrew his outstretched hand. “I’m sorry,” he whispered and he walked away, into the dark where he once belonged.

Morgan lowered her arms and saw him for the very last time. Tears flooded in her eyes and streamed down her cheeks.

He walked passed Lune and stopped when Lune grabbed his right leg. “Good luck coming back,” he heard Lune sneered and he continued his journey to his home. Just where the hell did Morgan find Lune? Why is she so attracted to men like Lune and Leon?

I quickly got up to my feet and ran towards Lune as I wiped my tears away. I heard Lune whispered something to him but what?

“Lune? Are you alright?” I asked as I knelt beside him.

I then helped Lune got up to his knees and brought him to my room, to wash away the blood on him and put some medication on his bruise.

“Can you walk?”

“I think so,”

He turned around and saw Lune lean closely on Morgan as they made their way to her room. He sighed and knew everything Lune said was the truth. He hit Lune for he did not want to hear any more painful truth coming from a jerk like him. But with that action caused his great regrets. Morgan was now afraid of him.

“Red Rose…” he muttered and tears slowly made their way down his cheeks.

What have I done?

You didn't expected that did ya? haha.

“Names, they hold the power of ones true nature,”

Chapter 15: Her Gift

He stopped abruptly from his way to Kendrick’s. If he were to tell anyone Michaela is still alive, who will believe him? Then again, the gut feeling might be wrong and he would make a fool out of himself.

“We could not find her body, sir.” He heard a voice said through Kendrick’s door.

“Have you covered the sea bed?”

“Yes, sir,”

“She must have been incinerated by the bomb then. What about the Enormph?”

“Gone too, sir,”

Upon hearing this, he then felt a little queasy and placed his arm on the wall, half supporting himself. He walked a few steps away from the door; trying his hardest to actually run away from the truth. Yet, he felt heavy as though he weight 700pounds. His legs could no longer take the weight and it gave way. His body slide down the wall like jelly and he sat heavily on his bum. He hung his head down, his hair fell softly to the front; becoming a soft black veil between his face and the world outside. He hitched up his right leg and rested his right hand on his knee. His head still hung down yet not as down as his heart that left him when he was brought ashore. He felt as though he was the one that left his heart behind; to drown, to sink, to deal with the situation later. Yet later has come far too soon for he felt pain in the hole where his heart once belonged. Slowly, soft, warm tears were form in his eyes and some even escaped even though he tried so hard to hold it in. A teardrop rolled down his face and splashed on his shirt. He has never felt so alone since his mother has left him. Gentle sobs escaped his soft lips and it floated through the empty corridor which slowly then turned into nothing but an echo. He cried silently in the corridor, taking his time to grief over someone he cared so much about; in a sisterly way, of course.

I looked at Lune and I figured he was telling me a joke. I started giggling; telling him he almost got me, yet Lune’s expression was serious. A warm breeze past right by us, tousling his dark blue hair.

“Estrella, what makes you think I was joking? I take these kinds of things seriously,” his voice was dangerously low. A pair of golden fire flickered in his eyes and I felt the atmosphere immediately changed. The air was chiller and fog started to rise.

“L-Lune?” I chocked.

“You see, Estrella, it’s part of my gift. You have it too; it’s in your genes.” Lune continued with his low voice. His eyes never left mine as mine never left his.

“G-gift?” I stammered. “Lune! Stop it! You’re scaring me!”

Immediately, the air turned warmer and the fog dispersed. Lune fell on his knees and he was breathing hard.

“That... that was tougher than I thought,” he gasped.

“You did that to scare me!?” I yelled; my voice silencing the crickets. “How could you!?”
I felt my blood roaring in my veins, slowly turning into something hot like lava. I saw red spot dancing in my eyes and many million voices started whispering to me; their voices were in different tones yet the same tune.

Incinerate... incinerate... incinerate... incinerate... incinerate....

The voices started slow and it gradually became faster and faster and soon I wasn’t able to catch up on every word they say.

Incinerateincinerateincenerateincenerateincenerate....

I felt hot all over. I wanted to get rid of the heat so bad, I closed my eyes and yelled. My mind was filled with Lune’s frightening eyes and the so called innocent look he gave me when he told me: “That was harder than I thought...

I held my head tight with both hands due to the voices and Lune. I screamed and my voice was companioned by one last loud voice.

INCINERATE!

I opened my eyes and directed them towards Lune. Immediately, I felt the boiling heat in me seeped through my skin and I saw a flash of silver string heading towards Lune. Time then moved so slow; slow enough for me to see what was going on. The string was red with a hint of gold and yellow yet it moved so fast, it turned into silver. I saw Lune’s eyes went wide; not with fright but with amazement. Time then quicken it’s pace and the silver string hit Lune on his chest, setting his shirt on fire. Lune did not panic like I did, instead, he calmly raised his right hand; fingers gracefully followed with the hand and the arm, like one long snake. I heard a splash and saw water rising from the creek, my eyes went wide with amazed and my jaw literally dropped. The water quickly grouped each other, forming into one large drop of water in the night sky. With a flick of the hand, the water came rushing down on Lune, extinguishing the flames that were caught on him. Steam rise from his body and yet he did not look wet. His shirt was obviously burnt off and I was glad his pants didn’t it’ll be seriously awkward if it did. Apparently, Lune wasn’t wet at all and I was amazed.

“Wh-wh-what the hell was that!?” I cried and fell on my knees. I stared at my hands like they were a pair of aliens.

I glanced up at Lune with tears running down my cheeks and I saw him smiled with full triumph. He walked towards me, held his hand out and looked at me with a gentle smile on his lips. His body glistered under the moon and I grabbed his hand.

“Nothing to worry about, Estrella, its part of your gift,” he said as he prompt my hand on his shoulder and guided me away from the place.

He opened his red rimmed eyes and saw a handkerchief in front of his face. He wiped his eyes with the back of his sleeve and pushed his fringed aside. He looked up and saw Kendrick smiling sadly at him; his eyes too, were red.

“There is no need to cry over spilled milk,” Kendrick said as he knelt down in front of him. “Focus on Morgan now, she is in much danger. Sources told me she disappeared into the darkness,”

His ears picked up and he could not believe Kendrick. He took the handkerchief from Kendrick and roughly rubbed his eyes one last time. He swore to himself he would not cry again, not any time soon. He opened his mouth to reply Kendrick but he could not bring himself to speak up; he did not trust himself.

“I need you to keep a watch out on Morgan. I fear her gift maybe surfacing and she might need a lot of help considering her father was never really around,”

He nodded, stood up while ignoring the pins and needles on his legs and walked off with a slow pace, like an old man walking with his bones creaking. Finally, the pins and needles wore off and he ran up the stairs, taking two at a time. He just lost Michaela and he doesn’t want to lose Morgan.

Morgan, hang in there, I’m on my way...

His huffed and puffed towards his bike, jumped on his bike, started his bike and drove off in the dark, inky sky towards Morgan’s house.

Hang in there...

“Cocoa?” Lune said as he passed me a cup. I looked in the cup and saw tiny marshmallows bobbing on the surface.

“I hope you like marshmallows,” Lune said as he sat opposite me. His citrine eyes glowed with excitement. A popped sound was made from the firewood and Lune wore a black tee shirt (thankfully).

There was silence hanging in the heavy air as Lune watched me with those mysterious eyes.

“What is happening to me?” I whispered to Lune, I was looking everywhere but his intense eyes.  His house apparently was made out of wood. It felt cozy and comforting at the same time. I saw a spider descending down from it’s web.

Incinerate.

I felt a warm tinge in my veins and I directed it out on the spider.
The spider immediately caught on fire and it was reduced to ashes which fell softly on the middle of the table. I gasped and could not hold the excitement in me. Sure it as scary yet it was... comforting too.

“Do you know Lune means moon in French?” Lune said while taking a sip of his hot cocoa. “The Moon has the power to control the tide of a sea, no matter how vast it is, in other words, the Moon has a gravitational influence that produces the ocean tides and the minute lengthening of the day,”

I blinked my eyes due to the scientific words he used.

Impressive.

“Names, they hold the power to ones true nature,” Lune continued, “Example, Eve means Forest; Lys means Light; Terra means Earth; Aeris means Air and Estrella means Star,”

I placed the mug on the table on waited for Lune to continue.

“Star however, is a comet that is called Estel in Catalan. A star begins as a collapsing cloud of material composed primarily of hydrogen, along with helium and trace amounts of heavier elements. Once the stellar core is sufficiently dense, some of the hydrogen is steadily converted into helium through the process of nuclear fusion. The remainder of the star's interior carries energy away from the core through a combination of radiative and convective processes. The star's internal pressure prevents it from collapsing further under its own gravity. Once the hydrogen fuel at the core is exhausted, those stars having at least 0.4 times the mass of the Sun expand to become a red giant, in some cases fusing heavier elements at the core or in shells around the core. The star then evolves into a degenerate form, recycling a portion of the matter into the interstellar environment, where it will form a new generation of stars with a higher proportion of heavy elements.

I blinked; the scientific explanation was too much for just one night.

Apparently, Lune managed to read my facial expression correctly. “A Star is much more powerful than the Sun in such ways. Therefore, Estrella, you’re able to control fire. Morgan means bright. Bright means fire,” he explained much more slowly this time.

Silence hung in the air as I slowly grasped on every word he said. He then gave up and looked me in the eye once more.

“Estrella, do you know who your mother is?”
“Isabella?”
“Yes, our mother’s name is Isabella,”

I felt weird when he said our mother instead of your mother.

“Her name means an asteroid, which means you’ve inherited her gift; the last Star at the moment.”

“What do you want from me?” I whispered, equally soft like the Enormph’s.
“It is not I who want something from you; it is him who needs something from you. Something you have yet discovered. A waste of talent, he told me and I have to agree.”
“What talent do I have?”
“Something magnificent that you have inherited from your own mother, Isabella,"
I froze when the Enormph spoke of my mother’s name.
“What does my mother have to do with all this!?”

I gasped, knowing everything Lune told was the truth.

He panted heavily as he arrived to Morgan’s house.

Where is she?

He climbed into her room window and could not see her there. He cautiously walked towards the dark bathroom, opened the door but no one was there. There wasn’t any sign showing someone has recently gone into the room. Yet somehow, the radio was on.

Maybe she left the radio on? Yet his comrades told him they saw her in her room, sleeping, a couple of hours ago.

He sat on the roof top, looking at the rainbow that surrounds the pale blue moon.

“You did well,” he said as his wasabi green eyes twinkled with excitement.

“I’ve might done better if you’ve just let me stay longer with him, win his trust,” she pulled back her red hair to the right of her shoulder.

“I had to do that, you were getting closer and closer to him,” he said care freely.
“After all, I’ll have to eliminate you if you’re too... attached to him and I, as a gentleman, always give women second chances. So use it well, bitch, or the next time,” he placed his finger under his chin, just at his throat and pull towards him.

She clenched her fists tightly and tried to control her anger.

“Yes, sir,”

“You may leave,”

As she was heading towards the door, an Enormph barged in, panting.

“How many times I said to knock?” his wasabi green eyes flashed with anger.

“Sir, her powers have awaken,”

“Good, I’m glad to hear that,” he flashed a small smile to himself and looked at the Enormph. The Enormph then started shrieking as it was consumed with black colored fire. The whole time the Enormph was on fire, he was chanting; incinerateincinerateincinerateincinerateincinerateincinerate...

 We've once again reunited, sister.”

Chapter 14: Her Vision

I snapped my eyes wide open, trying to clear the image I saw. My voice was rasped due to the fact I’ve been screaming my lungs out. Sweat was breaking onto forehead slowly trickling down my face, leaving a silver trail. I took deep breaths, trying to clear my head. I then covered my eyes with my right hand.

What in the world was that I saw?
Is it even real?
Why do I still feel the pain through my body?

I was on the way to my bed after a long day with Leon at the park. It then hit me hard at the back of my head. It felt as though someone used a wooden plank and wham my head merciless. Speaking of which, my head hurt like hell. I immediately blacked out and when I came to my senses, it wasn’t mine. I was surrounded with a mass of Enormphs; they were all hissing and snarling at me. I was by a beach which is quite far from where I’m staying. I was holding onto a gun, preparing myself for a fight of my life. I should be worrying about myself, not someone named Michaela. I felt someone’s warm back touching mine, wisps of soft red hair blocking part my view.

Red hair, why does it seemed so familiar?

It then hit me once again, Michaela was the woman who’ve saved me and then threatened me. Everything went by like a blur, so many scenes and movements were too fast for me to register on. Before I knew it, I was under water, screaming out Michaela’s name and blacked out due to the fact I’ve no more air to grasp on.

The scene then changed as soon as the darkness settled in. I was dangling in air, my shoulders hurt by the claws of an Enormph. I started to panic when I saw a huge ball of white light reaching towards me.

Bomb.

I was going to die yet I felt strangely calm about it. All I could think about him, I tried summoning a mental image of him but it was replaced by an image of a woman around her 50’s and a man whom looked like a fisherman.

Mom, dad.

Those two words were so painful to me I actually closed me eyes and tears trickled down. I heard the Enormph grunted with panic as it was not as fast to get out of the reach of the bomb.

I love you.

And it once again, hit me. I screamed and screamed due to the pain and the blinding light.

Then I was awake, lying on the cold hard floor.

Was it real?

Once again the question came to me. I wondered what happened and why were two people surrounded by Enormphs.

I stood up, trying to balance myself on my wobbly legs. I then realized it was dark; the sun has set and stars twinkled cheekily in the dark sky. I turned on my radio and went towards the roof. My thoughts were still a blunder towards me, unsolved questions and answerless wonders.

“What happened? Why am I seeing all these?” I asked quietly to the bright moon.

“At night when the stars
light up my room
I sit by myself”

Bruno mars sang with full passion. Well, Bruno Mars, you’re not the only one talking to the moon at the moment, I thought.

“Talking to the Moon
trying to get to you
in hopes you're on
the other side.
Talking to me too
or am I a fool
who sits alone
talking to the moon”

I started to cry, consuming myself with fear and despair. Am I a freak for being able to see those? I hugged my legs, trying to warm myself while I was shaking with fear. The back of my head began to hurt once again and I felt myself being pulled towards darkness once again. This time, it wasn’t as painful as the one before. I felt my eyes fluttering and my body falling on the cold roof top. It must be seizure, I thought to myself as my head hit the roof and I could no longer feel my body as darkness consumed my sight.

“Talking to the Moon, folks, by Bruno Mars…”

Darkness then was spotted with small balls of colored lights. Soft green, baby blue, light violet, warm pinkish glow was all around me. I stood up and I was filled with curiosity about those lights. I then heard a murmur as a pink light float by me. I strained my ears and followed the pink light.

“Lost… Family’s dead… Am I dead too?”

The light then stopped abrupt. I too, stopped and peer into the light for it no longer made any sounds or noise. I saw something moved in the light and I leaned closer to the light. I then saw a girl at the age of 6 years old, wondering around in her house. She has a shoulder-length black hair with straight bangs and she wore a white night gown that reaches to her ankle. She was holding onto the railing as she descended down long stairs. Suddenly, the girl looked at me, with a pair of baby blues.

“Where’s my mommy?” she said, her voice was filled with sadness and despair that no child at her age could ever experienced. My heart felt broken and I reached out; wanting very much to wipe the tears off her cheeks.  As soon as my fingers come in contact with the pink sphere, the scene around me changed.

I was on the way down the stairs, wondering what the scream I heard from my bedroom was. I was frightened and curious at the same time; my heart was racing faster and faster every second. The storm outside was not helping me either; thunder boomed and lightning crashes together, illuminating my house. Not only that, the nightmare I had before still scares me. Finally, I reached the bottom of the stairs and I saw a female body in a pool of blood. Her eyes were closed and her mouth was open as though she was still screaming a blood curling scream.

I felt my eyes went wide with fright and I rushed to find my daddy. I then went to the kitchen for the kitchen was my daddy’s most favorite place in the whole house. I then found my daddy behind the kitchen counter.

“Daddy? Daddy? Mommy’s gone,” I cried as I shook him. Finally, with much strength, my daddy’s body fell and he hit his head on the cold marble floor. I wiped my tears and I saw two black sockets. I miffed my scream as I rushed out from the kitchen. Upon running, I tripped on a ball and I hit my head hardly on the wall. I felt pain burst through my head as I got up and I saw a couple of eye balls by the door. I wailed with despair and cried, hoping this was all but a terrible nightmare. I heard thunder boomed and saw lightning flashed. I then had an angry feeling; a wishing to avenge both my parents. Suddenly, I saw a man by the pillar.

I realized it was none other than my loving brother, with that I ran to him with open arms. My heart pounded but I felt a little better. I asked my brother if he has seen both our parents. He nodded his head and said yes. I then saw a knife which he took out skillfully.

“Goodbye dear Emily,” he whispered and down the knife came upon me.

I remembered screaming until the very last second.

“Morgan! Morgan! ” I heard someone said while shaking my body.
“Snap out of it, Morgan!”

I blinked my eyes.

Once.

Twice.

And I saw a guy standing over me, shaking my body to and fro.

“Morgan,” he sighed and smiled.

Kendrick voice rang through the darkness and it disturbed his sleep.

“The boy will get over it,”
“But sir…”
“Don’t you ‘sir’ me, Adam; I have absolute no mood for this! Explain again to me why Michaela didn’t report to me as soon as dawn breaks in!? She should have known better than that!”

Michaela didn’t report to Kendrick?

“Sir, I spotted her looking devastated on her bike to some where,”
“And why didn’t you go after her?” Kendrick’s voice was dripped with poison kindness.
“I… I was taken surprised by an Enormph,” Adam stuttered.
“The problem with you blardy newbie is that you guys think after being taken in you’re so ‘awesome’,” he sneered, “When you clearly needed more training!”

Silence.

“Taken surprised by an Enormph! Bull shit! First time I’ve heard it,” Kendrick’s voice rang through the room.

He then heard the door slammed and footsteps begun to fade away. He heard Adam sighed and a soft thumped somewhere off to his right.

“What did the Enormph took shape as?” he asked, his voice was raspy. He turned towards his right and saw Adam flushing. His cheeks were red and he was looking at his shoes.

“One smoking hot chick,” he said, still blushing.

He then chuckled and looked at the ceiling, watching the fan spinning round and round again.

“I was at some alley, done my part on drinking some booze. It was somewhere after dawn, I guess. I was kinda drunk, I guess when I saw Michaela,” Adam continued. “This chick then came out of no where and pin me on the wall, she was one strong woman. I thought she was going to plant a kiss on me and all but when she smiled, her mouth was freaking filled with teeth,”

“All women’s mouth is filled with teeth. If not, how are they going to chew?”

Michaela’s still alive, a teeny tiny voice whispered to him as Adam talked.

“I meant needle-like teeth, bro,” Adam stood up. He ran his fingers through his short curly blonds. His bright blue eyes darted from left to right as though he was expecting something to happen. “She then bit me on the neck, but I saw the golden eye just in time. Freaking biatch gave me one heck of a scar.” Adam pulled his shirt collar to his left side to show him. He turned and saw the mark.
Interesting.

A small ring of holes pierced on Adam’s skin and it looked wicked.
You can feel it, she’s still alive. Report to Kendrick. Hold a search party for her. Do anything you can to save her… while she lives…

“I managed to take out my gun and shot her on the gut. She was pissed at me but she let go of her bite on me though, she then rammed my head on the pavement and I shot her in the bloody golden eye.” Adam said, filled with satisfaction.

He then got up from the bed and placed his head in both his open hands, thinking about Michaela and how he lost her. He raised his head and clam both his fist hard. He stood up, walked towards the door and walked out of the room, leaving Adam hanging in his sentence.

Noisy bastard, he thought. He was in no mood for someone as irritating as Adam. He needed to talk to Kendrick about Michaela for he had this gut feeling Michaela was still alive; badly hurt but alive.

“Morgan,” he greeted me with a smile.

I shuddered for I could not shake the feeling of the poor girl. Her whole family was butchered by her own brother; her own maniac brother. I focused my eyes on the guy in front of me.

“Can you stand?” he asked as he got up and held out a hand for me.

I nodded and I took his hand, pulling myself off the floor. It then hit me.

Who is he? I wondered. How does he know my name!?

“Who are you?” I asked as I wrapped my arms around me to keep myself warm.
“You’re cold,” he said much with surprised as though the place was supposed to be warm.

“What was that?” I murmured; my head felt as though someone has brained me.

“That was Lil Emily,” he said and looked at the pink sphere that floated above us.
“Her brother killed her whole family and her too. She’s a lost soul here,”

“Lost soul?”

“You’ve just experienced her memory. Her very last memory,”

“Memory?”

“The voices you’ve heard, the scenes you see moving in the sphere, they are all past memories of the unsettled lost souls. Once touch, we’re able to experience their very last second, after all, that is part of our gift.”

“Part of our gift?”

“I’ll explain more when we’ve reached our destination. But, you are warned, the more you touch the spheres willingly, the harder it gets to come out. With or without help that is,”

“What if the spheres touch me?”

“Notice how they stay their distance from us? And as I said, willingly,”

“How do you know so much?”

“I just... know,”

The guy in front of me wore a black sleeveless shirt with jeans and a pair of blue converse shoes. He smiled at me as though I made a joke only he knows.

“Are you real?” I whispered for I was afraid of the silence and the weird lights.

“Are you real?” he whispered to me.

I reached up and touched my face and I nodded.

“Then I must be real too,” he said with satisfaction and slightly tilted his head to right.

I shivered and bite back a yelp when one of the lights came close to me.

“No need to be afraid, I’m here,”

“Where is here, exactly?”

“We are in a limbo at the moment. If you’ll follow me, you’ll somehow understand where you are at,”

He started to pull me towards a soft yellow light. Yet I stood my ground, afraid to move, scared of the things happening around me.

“Morgan? It’s okay, I’m here,” he once again smiled and urged me to walk with him.  I finally gathered my courage and walked with him; falling a step behind him. The strange floating lights started to follow us; lighting our every path not to mention I caught fragments of voices; some were pleading, some were crying, some were screaming, some were questioning. I was freaked out yet I have to bit back my fears and follow him. After all, the way he talked is as though he knows the way out and I want to get out of this freaky place.

The light in front of us began to grow brighter and brighter and soon, I was blinded by it yet we continued walking. I then heard crickets playing a melody and somewhere far off, I heard water splashing as though there’s a creek nearby. I opened my eyes and my sight finally adjusted towards the dark night. Yet it wasn’t really that dark, a bright moon illuminated the place; throwing every dark corners a soft shade of bluish white.

I gasped for I’ve never seen such a beautiful place in my life. I looked up at the sky and a halo circled around the moon like the planet called Saturn. The stars gently dotted on the dark blue sky, causing a gentle atmosphere to the place.

“It’s called a nimbus,” the guy said as he stood by my side.
“Nimbus,” I repeated his word, softly.

“By the way, funny how you’ll follow a guy to a mysterious place,” he said and looked at me.

I tore my eyes off from the nimbus and looked at him.

“You seemed different,” I said without hesitation, “The kind that saves rather than harm females. You looked familiar though, I… I just can’t tell,”

“Lune,” he said and extended his hand and I shook his hand.

“Morgan, nice to meet you,” I said, still looking at his eyes. Funny how I was unable to notice his face until now; his eyes was the color of citrine; a yellowish goldish color. He has a nose shaped like a Greek nose and a lip that was used to smiling.

“Oh, I know you.” He said as he walked around me, “I’m not sure if you know me though, after all, it’s been a long time since we’ve met.”

“We’ve met?”

“Aye, we’ve met,” he said, mimicking a pirate ascent.

“Mind telling me when?”

“You’ll find out soon, Estrella,”

“Who’s Estrella?” I asked, feeling more and more confused by every word he said.

“You,” Lune said, his eyes were serious and I felt a dark aura surrounded him.
“We’ve once again, reunited, sister.”
